It is a great pleasure to announce the opening of China Art, my new studio located at The Galleries at Sunset Center, here in Amarillo, Texas. My friend, Tong Steinle, the talented Paper Cutting Artist, will join me in showing her beautiful framed Chinese Paper Cuts alongside my Chinese Brush Paintings.
I recently returned from an eighteen day visit to China with a group of twelve artists from across the United States along with one Canadian. The group was led by my friends Ning Yeh and his wife, Ling Chi, the owners of the fantastic Oriental Art Supply in Huntington Beach, California. We had a wonderful time visiting several cities, parks, lakes, and mountains. The highlight of the experience was the several days we spent receiving instruction from Master Artist Su Bo Dou, the foremost Gong Bi (meticulous style) artist in China, and a group of seven more Master Artists who demonstrated for us their best techniques and painting methods. We met at Su Bo Dou’s studio which is a beautiful quadrangle complete with a moat full of goldfish and a quacking duck.
I am very anxious to display several of the paintings I completed during and shortly after my “Dream Journey” to China. Please join us when we open the door to China Art for the first time on June 7th at 5:00 p.m.
